When you order your portrait, you’ll want to make sure your reference photos are clear, well-lit, and at a high resolution. If photos are blurry, or low-resolution, I can’t see the finer details that characterize each horse. Since these details are what make each portrait special, it is very important to send your very best images!
Here are some examples of reference photos that will lead to a high-quality portrait.
Firstly, it’s good to send photos of front, back and sides, just to get a sense of your horse’s build and any distinctive markings.
Also, since most portraits focus on the face, it’s important to have one or more closeups of the face only.
Thirdly, it is extremely helpful to me as the artist to have a photo in the pose you want for your portrait.
Lastly, if possible, sending pictures of your horse in motion can shine even more light on his or her personality.
