It’s been a while now, but I thought I’d recognize my best print of 2024, Sycamore Serenity. Ever since I took the inspiration photo on a chilly February day in Hickories Park, I itched to make a monotype of it. In the summer, my chance arrived, and I spent the day working on it at Equinox Press. After testing different tools and methods for the grass, pebbles and water, the final result was well worth the effort.
In the fall, I joined many talented artists in my community in the Broome County Arts Council Juried Art Show, where Sycamore Serenity received Best in Show. It was a pleasure to showcase this unique medium in a high-visibility setting. Now it’s time for spring grass and floating leaves again in Hickories Park, with familiar and new views to lure me back with my camera very soon.
